This article is devoted to the analysis of expressions used, in Russian and Chinese, to describe the way a person dresses, including his or her clothes and acces­sories. The article gives a detailed analysis of the choice of stylistically neutral or marked expressions, characterizing one’s actual or usual appearance, as well as prin­ciples concerning the collocation of verbs and nouns in Russian. Accordingly, it also studies lexical options in this semantic field, conveying actuality or usualness, or with evaluative meanings in Chinese, and principles of combinations of verbs with names, referring to items of clothes.
