Experience the historical and etymological study of lexical and semantic fields at the seminar on Russian etymologies
Abstract
The paper presents the interim results and outlines the prospects of studies of lexical-semantic field as a specific component of the linguistic picture of the world. According to the author, etymological-motivational analysis of the field is more preferable, since it gives a possibility to determine the characteristics of objects, phenomena, taking into account the ideas, concepts, singled out by ethnos, ie, the picture of the world as such. Etymological analysis, the author believes, is a necessary component of motivational analysis, because allows you to set the degree of use in various fields the formations of individual etymological nests and relative chronology of motivational models. The combination of etymological-motivational analysis and historical analysis will help determine the degree of stability / variability of motivational models (= ethnic representations) in the history of the language and direction of the semantic development of the etymological nests functioning in this field.
