The article analyzes the formation of the image of an enlightened woman in the “Moscow Mercury” magazine, examining both ideal and satirical female images. Attention is paid to the transformation of the perception of women and their role in society in the context of changes in literary and cultural norms: discussions about language, the development of a sentimentalist literary tradition, the “feminization” of literature.
