The article deals with the image of Kitovras in Russian literary works and art, considering the influence of the Byzantine and Western European traditions on it. The article shows the variation of Kitovras image from ideas about wise architects to symbols of the fight against vice. The analysis reveals the adaptation and transformation of European mythological motifs in Russian culture.
