The article deals with the peculiarities of teaching word-derivation and morphology of contemporary Russian language in the 3rd academic year at the Philologi­cal faculty in Shenzhen MSU-BIT university. The article contains brief description of this course and its position in the system of philological subjects, characterizes peculiar features of organizing seminars and effective teaching techniques, specifies different forms of students’ knowledge assessment and defines difficulties that students experience while studying the course.
