The Monastic Meal in the Solovki Monastery: from Antiquity to the Present Days
Abstract
Everyday monastery life – is a topic, which has not received the proper attention in the hagiographic literature and in the memories of the pilgrims of the 19th c. In the tragic twentieth century most of the monasteries were destroyed, turned into warehouses and prisons. Only in the 1990s the revival of monasteries, monastic life and traditions has begun.
