The World War II in the Political Discourse of the Modern Croatia
Abstract
World War II had great influence on the future of former Yugoslavia and the modern Croatia still makes itself felt not only in its politics, political parties, but also in art and literature. According to incomplete statistics, in the Socialist Federative Republic of Yugoslavia, have been about 15,000 monuments dedicated to the so-called National Liberation War. Many of these monuments were partly or completely destroyed or damaged during the decay of Yugoslavia in the 1990-ies. Part of the Croatian society still believes that the World War II, except the great victory of Croatia – was a tragedy for croatia people. Some politicians are rather accurate in the evaluation of the World War II because they are afraid to loose votes in the elections.
