The article demonstrates how the motif of truth and lies in the film “The Ballad of a Soldier” (1959 ) is formed with the communicative level means. It proves the necessity to use the semantic communicative analysis method by the Russian language specialists, in particular, during the teaching of Russian as a foreign language. The author shows how important communicative values that describe characters, situations and form the communicative design of the movie, are lost in translation. The communicative semantics analysis of spoken movie dialogue is suggested. It may be used in teaching this aspect Russian native speaking and foreign students.
