Poetics of Physicality in “Notes of a young doctor” by Mikhail Bulgakov
Abstract
The article describes the imaginative world and the problems of the cycle by Mikhail Bulgakov “Notes of a young doctor” and the story “Morphine”. The main attention is paid to the methods of artistic images of bodily life as a complexly organized “text”, which became the subject of scientific and medical, esthetic, moral, social reflection, and is included in the space of collective consciousness and the unconscious, which is especially apparent in the stories of “Steel throat” and “Darkness Egyptian”. Conceptualize and image Bulgakov the doctor: in a series of “Notes of a young doctor” is a person who through contact with the bodily life of the patient passes increase school novel as “Morphine” is interpreted as a tragic story about the surrender of the person in front of morally corrupted elements of physicality. The “medical” prose of Bulgakov’s diary, confessional elements combine with sharply outlined plot drawings, psychological and socio-cultural generalizations.
