The problems of language standardization and codification traditionally form the area of constant interest in linguistic researches. The article deals with the concept of standard in respect to national variants of the Spanish language and contains the brief description of applicability of the “language standard” concept in its traditional meaning to the language situation in contemporary Argentina.
