The author discusses the functions and the role of the dialogue in Pushkin’s prose, analysing Pushkin’s “The Queen of Spades”. This long-short story is regarded in terms of its genre specifics. The elements of such genres as a fairy tale and an anecdote are the means of creating of the characters, and the dialogue plays the main role in the disclosure of characters, and the special artistic means – the lack of dialogue in a situation of “contacts” of characters.
