Due to the rapid development of international media and a huge number of series and films of foreign production that appeared in Russia, the audiovisual translation has become one of the research priorities. Several semiotic levels that exist in an audiovisual text make audiovisual translation not only one of the most difficult type, but also the most promising field of translation studies. This work is aimed at describing, comparing and critically analyzing the options for audiovisual translation of phraseological units in the British TV series “Downton Abbey” from English into Russian and French. The work contains the description of the structural specificity and emotional richness of phraseological units and the main ways of their translation in the audiovisual text. The conclusion of the paper evaluates the wealth of idioms of the three languages presented.
