The article deals with A.A. Nartov’s translations of the passage from the B. de Fontenelle’s work “Dialogue in the Realm of the Dead. Artemisia and Raymond Lullius”. Adding images of the main characters in the “Conversation…”, A.A. Nartov achieved a greater contrast of characters and he managed to reflect the moral ideals of of the 18th century society in the image of Raymond Lullius. The development of images of real historical figures from the original work to the translation is traced to find similarities and differences in these works.
