Perspectives Opened by “Controversial Pictures, Dissenting Pictures. Art and Reform in Strasbourg (1520 – circa 1550)” by Frank Muller (2017)
Abstract
Here we review Frank Muller’s book, ‘Images polémiques, images dissidentes. Art et Réforme à Strasbourg (1520 – vers 1550)’, Baden-Baden / Bouxwiller 2017 / ‘Controversial Pictures, Dissenting Pictures. Art and Reform in Strasbourg (1520 – circa 1550)’. At the same time we broaden our reflections beyond the themes of this book, evoking other regions of the Holy Roman Empire (especially the Inner Austria), the visions of the prophetesses, the relationship between images and linguistics, and the relationship between touch and iconoclasm.
