Taking into account the accumulated scientific experience in studying the connection between Chekhov and Dostoevsky’s creativity, the author of the work focused his attention on Chekhov’s parody of suffering “in Dostoevsky’s manner” (on the example of the work “An Enigmatic Nature”). The article analyzes the role of the detail that helps Chekhov’s heroine to play the “enigmatic nature”. The author pays attention to confession, which turns into a false complaint. The sufferings of the heroine create an aura of mystery, exclusivity and mystery, isolation from society. The parodic reimagining of the “Dostoevsky‘s manner Chekhov reduces to the false complaint of the heroine with the help of diminutives.
